The gold and purple colors together are only found in a few parts of South America. Ametrine has been mined in the same location for over 400 years. The only known producer is the legendary Anahi mine in Bolivia. The highest quality mineral rough is exported to Brasil for cutting and polishing. Both minerals are often found with copper bearing ore. Azurite was used for years as a pigment by artist until it was discovered the lovely blue would turn green. The Opals were formed by mineral deposits left from geysers and hot springs. This andularescent gemstone is included with botryoidal (grape-like) or straw-like masses that cause the light to roll off the internal bubbles and straw.
