Type: Andalusite Enhancement: None - 100% natural Origin: Brasil Price: $20 per carat Andalusite (Moh's scale 7.5) is a strongly pleochroism (multi-colored) gemstone that shows flashes of red, yellow, orange and green depending on the viewing angle. Some people refer to Andalusite as Poor Man's Alexandrite. Since Alexandrite requires a change in the type of lighting (i.e. from daylight to indoor incandescent). Andalusite displays all three colors simultaneously. Yet, Andalusite is available at a fraction of the cost. These natural gemstones are from Minas Gerais, Brazil and have not been treated in any manner. All of these gemstones are eye clean to very, very slightly included. Andalusite of this quality is hard to find. (Return to Top)
